Over the River & Through the Woods: Finding & Telling the Important Stories in Our Lives Wednesday, March 17, 2004, 12:45 – 2:30 p.m., room C234 at New Trier Northfield Link to Syd Lieberman's website The stories in our lives are the warp and weave of our existence. They tell us who we are and what we stand for. They tell our children who we are, who they are and where they come from. And they give us the perfect way to communicate with our children about our family's values, hopes, and dreams. Many of us are too busy to notice these stories or understand their significance. Syd Lieberman, an internationally acclaimed storyteller and workshop leader, will entertain and inspire us with some best-loved stories about his own life growing up in Chicago and raising a family in Evanston. Through simple, enjoyable participatory exercises, he will also help us find and start telling the meaningful anecdotes in our own families’ lives and turn them into valuable stories. Syd is National Storytelling Network Circle of Excellence winner, Golden Apple award-winning teacher of high school English for over 20 years, and author whose books have garnered awards from ALA, Parent's Choice, and Storytelling World. |
