FAN Presents:
The Ups & Downs of Middle School Peer Relationships

During the years between 5th and 8th grades, peers become increasingly important to our children. This program will address the challenges that changing peer relations present for children and their parents. Tom Bass, M.S.W., Clinical Director of Family Service of Winnetka-Northfield, will present and answer questions about boys’ peer groups. Debra McGowan, M.A., M.S., local family counselor, will focus on girls’ issues. Together, they will answer questions parents may have about key issues regarding middle school peer relations, including:

  • The need for separation and connection
  • The need for structured and unstructured social experiences
  • The need for freedom and boundaries
  • The hidden benefits of anxiety & longing

Wednesday, September 17, 2003 from 12:45 – 2:30 p.m.

The program will be held at New Trier High School—Northfield Campus, Building C, Room 234. Please contact your school liaison or visit the FAN web site www.fan-ntts.org for further information.
