Nourishing a Healthy Body Image in Teens:  A Panel Presentation

Wednesday, September 17, 2003 from 12:45 – 2:30 p.m.

Nancy LaCursia, Ph.D., Chair of the New Trier Kinetic Wellness Department, will moderate a panel discussion with local educators and health care professionals about the high school’s focus on body image, overall wellness, eating healthy & living actively. The panel will explain how parents can help teens develop a healthy body image by encouraging self-acceptance, self-respect and appreciation of diversity. There will also be discussion about ways to counter our culture’s extremely narrow view of attractiveness, as portrayed in the media and reinforced by friends and family.
