How is volunteering important in a child's development? Can altruism be learned?
What is service learning – and how are our local schools engaged in service
learning? What are some local volunteer opportunities for your family to get
involved in right now or for a summer or a post-high school gap year? These
questions and more will be addressed by a prestigious and knowledgeable panel
including: Associate Professor in Loyola’s College of Social Work, Dr. Alan
Levy, PhD. LCSW; Executive Director of the Volunteer Center of New Trier
Township, Barb Tubekis; leaders in experiential education, Janice Dreis and
Larry Rehage; and a leader of New Trier’s Angola Project, Carolyn Muir. Great
information for parents with teens and younger children!
